V.118-17 Asperges Me from Ritual Chants

Asperges Me (V.118-17)
Sprinkling Rite

Asperges Me is one of the more through-composed settings in Ritual Chants, scored for three part choir, harp, and organ. The choir part can be effectively performed with any of the harmony parts, or solo, and can also be broken into soli sections within the choir. The instruments are likewise optional, allowing for a variety of performance possibilities and ease of use by any size forces.

Ritual Chants are a collection of liturgical chants re-cast in a modern idiom, for use in church services or in concerts. Most are for specific services, while some are for general use. They are designed to be as practical as possible, thus allowing their performance by ensembles of wide ranging composition, ability level, and aesthetic direction (as is typical in today's church music ministries). Their intent is to embue the ancient chants with new vitality, and make them more engaging and accessible to modern ears.
