Concert History
& This Season
The concert series began in 2007
year with an experiment -
bringing some of Boston's brightest young talents out to
Westwood to perform for us at our church.
The first season consisted of a single potpourri concert, which was so
succesful the series was expanded in the second season to a cycle of 4
concerts.
The second season highlights included the dedication of our grand
piano, world premiere performances, and the Parish Choir performing
Vivaldi's Gloria with full orchestra.
This season, the series has expanded again, this time to a phenomenal seven concerts! The scope of the
series has also expanded to include special events like Silent Movie
Night, a Jazz Brunch, and a performance by local cantor and composer
Anne Marie David to celebrate her new CD, Turning Home.
The classical
tradition continues to be the core the concert series, with this year
inviting back friends of the church Sirene Flute and Harp Duo, and the
brass mastery of Ross Holcombe and his ensembles. We are also happy to
invite the Stratus chamber ensemble for the first time, and of course
present our final concert, Sing Praise! Medieval to
Modern, featuring the Parish Choir
and musicians from St. Margaret Mary's.
I'll
see
you at the concerts!

Sirene (Concert 6)
Lucia Stavros, harpist, and Anne Gregory, flutist, have been
performing together since their freshman year at the New England
Conservatory of Music. Their collaborative efforts began with the
Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto in C Major. Since then, they have
covered a wide range of repertoire, from J.S. Bach to Leonard
Bernstein, and have performed in various venues across the Boston area.
Their duo placed third in the Boston Chamber Music Society
competition in April of 2008. They have held full performances at the
New England Conservatory, St. Margaret Mary’s Parish in Westwood,
MA,
and in the Boston Public Library courtyard. Sirene has premiered new
works as well in the NEC Tuesday Night New Music Series, including the
piece to which they attribute their name, “Sirene,” composed for the
duo by Miriam Piilonen. For more information on Anne and Lucia, please
