Concert History
& This Season
The concert series began in 2007
year with an experiment -
bringing some of Boston's brightest young talents out to
Westwood to perform for us at our church, as well as showcasing our own
talented musical ensembles.
Now in its fourth season, we welcome back old friends, keep old
traditions, while reaching out for something new. While friends of the
concert series will notice we still offer the popular Silent Movie
Night and Jazz Brunch, we are also able this year to present a
dedication concert for our new organ, all-brass and all-string
concerts, and for the first time, two
concerts featuring our Parish Choir.
Both are new endeavors for us - first we will sing Cesar Franck's Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross, a
neglected
masterpiece, as part of a musical, multi-media presentation
of the Stations of the Cross on April 10th, 2011.
This is a gem of the choral literature which is almost never performed
and of which no commercial recording is currently available - a
performance not to be missed!
To close the concert series we take a step into the lighter side of
music with Grand Finale! An American
Revue featuring the music of the Great American Songbook with
the help of a jazz trio on May 15.
I'll
