| Sospiri (V.22) Saxophone quartet of moderate difficulty but great emotional gravity. Sospiri (It. 'sighs') was written for a good friend of mine when he lost his mother to cancer. I myself had lost a profound influence on my life, my grandfather, to cancer and I felt I shared his hardship. I had never actually seen his mother, but I felt his loss. The dedication reads: "In memory of a woman I had never met." |
