V.123 An American Fanfare

An American Fanfare (V.123)

Composed for the opening of the new concert hall at the John Cali School of Music at Montclair University (NJ). Refered to as 'Copland with a twist', An American Fanfare uses elements of the 'noble slow' fanfare style, juxtaposed with a faster, bitingly dissonant sound. A softer, more intimate middle section develops the themes which recombine in a rousing conclusion which is less recapitulation than evolved result.
