| CitySongs (V.107) CitySongs is a song cycle based on texts heard on the streets and in the locales of Boston. The settings portray the words as accurately as possible with regard to preserving the original rhythm, pitch, and mood in which they were observed and recorded. At times passionate, funny, violent, and vulnerable, the songs form an overall arch which illustrate above all the prevading dramatic theme of the alienation of the speaker, both from his community, and from himself. 1.
